How do applicants submit their SkillSelect Expression of interest (EOI) for skilled migration to Australia?

With the recent coronavirus wave, many international students staying in Australia were affected. Many of them who lost their jobs had difficulty surviving when the economic crisis hit them. Not only that, COVID-19 has had a substantial impact on Australia’s skilled migration program, resulting in significant reductions for Skilled Independent applicants. This reduction directly affected the country’s economic status. Putting this in mind, Australia opened its border for international students in December of 2022. However, the visa priority will be given to the candidates whose skills and work experience would help Australia’s economic growth and health service response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Skilled Independent candidates and those seeking nomination from a state or territory government will usually be invited only if they have skills and work experience in specified health, information technology, and engineering occupations.

To have the best chance of success, consider the various stages of the application process before deciding which visa option is best suited to you. Suppose you prepare ahead of time and acquire the appropriate assistance before submitting your Expression of Interest (EOI) for a skilled Australian visa through SkillSelect. In that case, you will plan your future with ease.

Prepare your skilled migration visa to Australia in 2022

There have been many changes in the migration rule due to the Covid impact. You need to be up-to-date with the visa process and its requirements. The first point to remember is that you cannot apply for a visa unless invited by the Department of Home Affairs.

The essential thing is to submit an Expression of Interest and obtain sufficient points so that you are eligible for an invitation by the Department of Home Affairs. You should not apply for an Australian Skilled Migration Visa unless you have thoroughly researched all of your visa alternatives and considered these essential criteria. Under the General Skilled Migration program, three major visa subclasses are available.

Skilled Independent -189

This permanent visa allows you to live and work anywhere in Australia. The visa class is subject to invitation rounds every three months.

Skilled Nominated – 190

There is also a permanent visa available, which requires you to be nominated by a state or territory government and to agree to live and work in the nominating state or territory for two years. The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) will instantly ask you to file a visa application if you are nominated.

Skilled Regional – 491/191

You must be nominated by a state or territorial authority or sponsored by a close family member for this temporary visa. You must be willing to settle in rural Australia (anywhere other than Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney) for three years before applying for permanent residency (subclass 191).

Eligibility for General Skilled Migration visa

To get an invitation, all candidates must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Have a skilled occupation on the list of the necessary skills – Australian Government website.
  • Should be under the age of 45 at the time of the DHA’s invitation.
  • Favorable skills assessment in your chosen occupation.
  • The appropriate number of points for the visa class chosen.
  • Remarkable English Proficiency.
  • I have submitted an Expression of Interest.
  • For a subclass 190 visa, you must be nominated by a state or territory administration.
  • For a subclass 491 visa, you must be set by a state or territory government or a close family.

What is SkillSelect?

Applicants must use SkillSelect pathways to express interest in skilled workers or company owners from another nation wishing to migrate to Australia (EOI). All Expressions of Interest (EOIs) must be filed online through SkillSelect. An expression of interest (EOI) is not a visa application, and there is no cost to create or submit an EOI through SkillSelect. Applicants will be required to take a skills assessment or a relevant points exam. If you do not meet the criteria, you may file an EOI but not apply for a visa. Several visa kinds may be obtained. Applicants must complete the SkillSelect or EOI to be eligible for some visas. Expressions of interest (EOI) in SkillSelect are required for the following visa topics:

  • Independent Skilled Class SI Subclass 189.
  • Nominated Skilled Class SN Subclass 190.
  • Skilled Work Regional Class PS Subclass 491.
  • Business Innovation and Investment Class EB Subclass 188.
  • Business Talent Class EA Subclass 132.

SkillSelect is the country’s online application system for overseas applicants. This enables such international candidates to declare their strong desire to relocate to Australia for a job or education. The Australian government will accept valid reasons for a visa nomination based on your EOI Skillselect.

SkillSelect Expression Of Interest (EOI) process

  • You can show your interest in SkillSelect by submitting an expression of interest.
  • A state or territory will decide whether or not to nominate you for a visa.
  • If you are appointed, the Department will ask you to apply for a visa within 60 calendar days. You cannot request a 60-day extension from the Department, and you must request that the state or territory reappoint you for the invitation.

You may be in or out of Australia when you submit a SkillSelect expression of interest. However, filing a SkillSelect declaration of interest does not constitute a visa request, and the Ministry will not grant you a bridging visa.

Suppose you have received an invitation to apply for a visa. At the same time, outside of Australia, the Department of Home Affairs will not award you a visa to go to Australia and apply for one. However, suppose you are in Australia when receiving an invitation and presenting your visa application. In that case, the Department may grant you a bridging visa to stay in the country until you have ultimately decided on your visa application.

EOIs in Skillselect

The EOI is maintained at SkillSelect and is valid for two years after you complete it. Incomplete EOIs are also kept for around two years but cannot be requested.

You may always examine your EOI and modify your information. If your circumstances change, you must access your EOI and update your information. If you receive a visa invitation, it will be too late to change your EOI. Under the following situations, you must update your statement of interest.

  • Results of new work experience.
  • Additional education, conferences, and seminars were attended.
  • Advancement of your English language skills.
  • The status of a family member has been updated or revised.

These changes can also affect your score and ranking. You should ensure that the information you provide in your EOI is correct and up to date. If your EOI application contains erroneous, false, or misleading information, it may be denied. The applicant’s expression of interest will be withdrawn from Skillselect:

  • If you get two invitations but do not respond with a visa application, or if you receive two invitations but do not respond with a visa application.
  • If you are invited to apply for a permanent or temporary visa and are later granted this visa,

If you must apply for a visa, SkillSelect will send you an invitation. You will be able to apply for a valid visa online within 60 days of the invitation date before the invitation expires. Applications sent outside of this time frame are not helpful, and you will have to wait for another invitation before you can apply. You do not need to re-enter the information you already provided throughout the online visa application process.
