Migration skill assessment validity for Engineers Australia

Before applying for a visa, you must first have a satisfactory skill assessment result if you wish to move to Australia as a skilled worker. Engineers Australia is the official evaluating authority for all engineering professions, and they will consider your academic qualifications, professional experience, and English level, among other factors. You can apply for migration once you have received the evaluation findings for your selected pathway.

Successful completion of your assessment procedure successfully, you will be emailed an assessment outcome letter suitable for migration purposes. Your result letter will be emailed to your migration agency if you have designated one to follow up on your behalf.

But, before we get into the validity of skill evaluation, are you aware of the method involved in your skill assessment? Do you have all of the necessary paperwork to have your report approved? You’ve come to the right place. We will go through these key aspects with you.

Basic requirements for Engineers Australia assessment

Basic requirements for Engineers Australia assessment

1. Choosing the most appropriate assessment pathway

There are six distinct methods for assessing migrating abilities, which are given below.

Accredited qualifications

    • Australian Qualifications
    • Washington Accord Qualifications
    • Sydney Accord Qualifications
    • Dublin Accord Qualifications
    • Other Recognized Qualifications

Non-accredited qualifications

  • Competency Demonstration Report (CDR)

Applicants whose qualification is from a country that is not accredited and does not belong to the Accord-listed countries need to submit a CDR report

2. Demonstrate your command of the English language

If you seek to have your abilities evaluated by Engineers Australia, you must demonstrate English language competency. IELTS, TOEFL iBT, and PTE Academic are now accepted as English language tests. You must submit your PTE Academic score to “Engineers Australia” using Pearson’s online secure website in order for your result to be confirmed.

Validity of the English test: Engineers Australia accepts IELTS, TOEFL iBT, and PTE Academic English test scores no older than three years at the time of application.

3. If you have engineering experience, you can submit an application for an engineering qualification evaluation. It is critical to recognize that no previous job experience is required. Refer to your undergraduate engineering degree and the project/work experience components of your academic courses to demonstrate your skills.

4. Look for certified credentials. You must ensure that the representative body of the signatory nation recognizes the occupation for which you are applying.

5. A Fast Track assessment option is offered for candidates who want their applications processed quickly. You have the option of requesting Fast Track service while submitting your application or after it has been filed.

Validity of Engineer’s skill assessment in Australia

If the assessment is acceptable, you will be emailed an assessment outcome letter suitable for migration reasons.  You may check the outcome letter instantly by entering the application details on the official site of Engineers Australia. Now for the important part: many candidates want to renew their assessment results once they expire. Engineers Australia, on the other hand, believes that the assessment outcome is valid indefinitely.

However, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) requires that the assessment letter be no more than three years old at the time of the migration application. Once that time period has elapsed, you must contact the MSA (Migration Skills Assessment) to renew your assessment letter. To obtain an updated letter, you must return the old letter along with the completed payment form to MSA.

If you need a letter similar to the prior assessment result but with the current date, please request a duplicate letter. A normal administrative fee will apply. A revised letter can be requested if you need modifications to the original result, such as changes to the work experience and PhD evaluation abroad or a change in your name. The cost will vary depending on the modification required.

Relevant skilled employment

Relevant Skilled Employment is a separate evaluation service for which candidates must apply and pay separately. If you have not applied for this additional service, your employment will not be represented in the outcome letter. Furthermore, if you applied for the service, the result letter will only include successful skilled employment results. Even though you paid for your relevant skilled work, your task may have been removed from the findings for one or more of the following reasons:

  • You did not provide all of the papers that were asked of you.
  • Your work experience has nothing to do with the occupational code you’ve chosen.
  • You were not rewarded at the market or salary rate for engineering specialists during your employment.
  • Relevant Skilled Employment excludes experience gained as a PhD student or as a Research Assistant/Fellow.

The MSA Booklet outlines that for the Relevant Skilled Employment Assessment, primary and secondary documents are required.

Secondary application to an existing successful application.

By submitting a Secondary Application based on your prior assessment result, you can apply for or add additional services, such as Relevant Skilled Employment and Overseas PhD evaluation. At that point, a link will appear in the status bar of myPortal, allowing you to submit a Secondary Application. This updated Secondary Application will be sent straight to your case officer for evaluation.

What can be done for outcome letters of the skill assessment if you are not satisfied?

You have the option of having your application reviewed as well as having it appealed. An unbiased assessor will review your application during the assessment process, and you will be notified of the conclusion via email. A review might last up to eight weeks. You have three months after getting the original evaluation result to request a review. Only when a Review decision has been received may an application for an appeal be submitted. The appeal procedure may therefore take up to nine months. An appeal must be filed within six months of obtaining the initial assessment result.
